Slow To Start!

September 13, 2006

I do not know why, but I am slow to start Fall Migration birding for 2007. I woke up when I read two reports on today’s MD Osprey, one  was a Golden-winged Warbler seen by many at Rock Creek Park, in the District and another was 2,677 Broad-winged Hawks at Washington Monument State Park. I went up to that Park 3 times last spring. I saw a number of Sharpies, and some Broadies. I  also went to Rock Creek, in the District, at least once last spring. It was well worth it. I saw a Mourning Warbler.

September 11

September 11, 2006

It does not matter who you will vote for. This is a sad day for the history books, not unlike the assasination of President Kennedy, in my generation. So I will devote this site to that day, and a moment of silence for those who died on that day!

Not a Cheerleader

September 10, 2006

In Montana, over the past twenty years , I  might have recieved flack for not being enthusiastic about our  discovery of oil in deeper waters off of the Gulf of Mexico. I am not enthusiastic because of the potential for environmental damage from a damaged offshore rig, and because it leaves our country dependent on oil for the next decade?;  in which we will be potentially lulled not to find alternative fuels.

I hope our search for alternative fuels. I am real sceptical of  our  use of Nuclear Fusion as an alternative, and the  current oil find is in a known hurricane corridor!

Its the Little things

September 5, 2006

There is some good news about Global Warming these days. I guess it boils down to whether you want a hard fall, or a soft one?

In the Washington Post, an article by Blaine Harden, back on Monday there appears an article about the many free trees being planted by Sacrmento, California’s Capital. The trees are being planted to combat Global Warming!

375,000 trees have been planted so far. They want to plant 4 million more. Lets hope they do!
