The Shark River In Spring

This is one of those otherworldly areas that I really like.

There are large alligators sunning themselves on a concrete trail in the first two miles of the trail or as far as we hiked.

Purple Gallinules darted in and out of the wooded marsh that buffered us from the Everglades. In the nearby Shark River (No sharks as far as I could tell) I saw Alligator Gars surface and roll near the top of the river. Out from the nearby highway was a roost of rare Snail Kites.
