Today I talked to a girl who’s mother was mauled (badly) by a grizzly bear along the Bufallo Fork Trail. This area interests me because it is one of the areas we trapped bears in.
Anyway, this gal had a mauled mother and she admited at times she go’s into grizzly country and does not take bear spray…now thats foolish. According to Dr. Steve Herraro spray can stop almost 90% of the maulings by bears…No matter how you cut it that is an A-high, high marks.
You can buy peper spray, or cayanne pepper or “bear spray” at any sporting goods store in Bozeman, Montana. “Bear Spray” costs about 25 dollars and is a nonlethel way of stopping a bear in its tracks and getting the bear to leave the scene of it’s attack.
I saw a lot of bears close and I swear by bear spray. Shame on the girl who’s mother was mauled by a grizzly for being lazy or cheap and putting grizzly bears at risk.
