I like springtime in the Rockies because you can observe bears and migratory birds concurrently…I can feel the excitement just as I type this post.
Once I flew with the bear flyer and saw a grizzly bear sitting under a conifer tree and it was March 12th. So bears will be out soon and birds will congruently migrate through here.
I hate to see the Rough-legged Hawks go but around here we will get species like the Swainson’s Hawk in their place. About mid-April bears will show up near roadsides they will be on carcasses in March but what a way to not see a bear.
About June 1 bears will be out and migratory songbirds will be active in Yellowstone National Park…
What a time to be out in the park looking for both birds and bears.
