This is the begining of a bad year for the Yellowstone Grizzly.
MEETEETSE, Wyo. — Wyoming state wildlife officers have caught their first grizzly bear of the season. And he was a big one.
Wyoming Game and Fish officials caught the bear Tuesday near Meeteetse (muh-TEET’-see). The Casper Star-Tribune reports the grizzly weighed 520 pounds, one of the biggest bears wildlife officials say they’ve seen in the spring. They say it’s about 20 years old, near the end of an average bears lifespan.
The grizzly Bear caught Tuesday will be released in the mountains outside of Dubois (DOO’-boyce) to keep it away from people and out of trouble.
