Birds And Water

We were on a major birdatching expidition and found we had birds influenced by the flooding and so were we….but we still managed to see some neat things.

First of all in one stretch of willows and Black Cottonwoods we saw twelve Western Tanagers, six of them being males and showing off their fiery red heads, as they chased female Western Tanagers with their brilliant yellows through the brush.

Their was a lot of green, but we werent lured to sleep looking at the beautiful bottomlands full of water, some of it raging.

We were birding along the Jefferson River near the headwaters of the Missouri River.
